Moodboard of inspiration for my magazine and textual analysis

To give me inspiration and ideas towards creating my magazine, I made a moodboard to display images related to my chosen magazine genre that will give me ideas for how I will put it together. The images that I have put on my moodboard are of various bands that relate to my chosen genre (such as 2NE1 or Red Velvet), magazine covers with the bands featured so that I can see how the featured band affects the layout, colour scheme, coverlines, housestyles, and the layout of the cover.

TEXTUAL ANALYSIS

This edition of KPOP LIFE magazine follows a basic format but is effective in its positioning and size of components. The featured band fills most of the page against a simple ombré background to give shape and shadow and highlight the artists in their brightly coloured outfits. The colour yellow appears frequently as it links to the what the band is wearing, which makes both the magazine and the featured band stand out, peaking an interest in potential readers due to there obviously being a popular band on the cover. The cover is organised and follows a conventional format of having the masthead at the top followed by the main image filling the page and coverlines placed across the page.

MOODBOARD

Some musicians included in my moodboard are Red Velvet, BTS, Block B, Zico, 2NE1, and EXID. All of these musicians are part of the K-Pop genre, which is what I hope to design my music magazine around.

When featured in these magazines, the magazine's general colour scheme will often be changed to suit that of the band's, such as red and white being the main colours of a magazine featuring Red Velvet. In my moodboard I have included some pictures of magazine covers to give evidence of such things being changed.
